LabVIEW Reconfigurable I/O (RIO) Architecture

For nearly a decade, National Instruments has been providing reconfigurable hardware paired with graphical programming to cutting-edge researchers and companies around the globe. The unique hardware/software approach is called the LabVIEW reconfigurable I/O (RIO) architecture. It is based on four components: a processor, a reconfigurable FPGA, inputs and outputs, and graphical design software. Combined, these components provide the ability to rapidly create custom hardware circuitry with high-performance I/O and unprecedented flexibility in system timing control.

NI myRIO-1900 will be the platform featured in this competition.


NI myRIO-1900

Featuring NI industry-standard reconfigurable I/O (RIO) technology, myRIO-1900 places three I/O connectors, wireless capabilities, a dual-core ARM real-time processor, and a customizable Xilinx FPGA in the hands of students. With its onboard devices, seamless software experience, and library of courseware and tutorials, myRIO provides a tool that helps students to “do real engineering”.
